Rapper Buckshot will be speaking to the youth for the programs opening weekend, this Saturday, January 17th at 1PM at The Brownsville Recreation Center located on 1555 Linden BLVD, Brownsville, BK. Other spokespeople for PTones-Brownsville include 50 Cent’s Producer Chris Styles (Dangerous LLC).
PTones Records After-School Music Program offers kids an opportunity to break through into the music industry. Students learn about the music industry, as they run a mini-record label comprised of different departments: A&R, Marketing & Promotion, and Production amongst others. Over the 11-week course the site’s spokespeople will be spending time with them, mentoring and giving feedback on the created music, as well as other aspects of the industry. The children will also be provided with the emails of professionals of the industry who have graciously agreed to give some of their time to help teach the kids.
Applications for the program can be found at the Rec Center or online at
www.ptonesrecords.com. Students/Applicants must be high school students, no prior music talent necessary.
Founder of the program, Oren Rosnbaum, states he's "extremely excited for the program to begin in Brownsville, as we anticipate it to be a wonderful opportunity for the local youth."
Buckshot went on to comment that the "opportunities being provided by P'Tones and this youth-oriented music program provide an outlet for our kids growing up in low-income neighborhoods, to explore their creative visions, not only through the creation of music, but by understanding the business behind what makes the entertainment successful. Our responsibility is to the youth; to educate and be a source of comfort and hope."
